今回のMOVIE NIGHT（4月14日）で上映する『黄金のアデーレ 名画の帰還』について少し紹介します

『アデーレ・ブロッホ＝バウアーの肖像 I（黄金のアデーレ）』は世紀末ウィーンを代表する帝政オーストリアの画家グスタフ・クリムトが1907-08年に描いた肖像画で、“オーストリアのモナリザ”と呼ばれ、世界で最も高額な絵画TOP10に入る名画。（2006年6月、当時としては史上最高値の156億円（1億3500万ドル）で、エスティ・ローダー社社長（当時）のロナルド・ローダーに売却） 。この絵はウィーンの銀行家で実業家のフェルディナント・ブロッホ＝バウアーの妻、アデーレをモデルに描いており、彼の注文により同地で描かれた。フェルディナントは製糖業で富を得た裕福な実業家で、多くの芸術家のパトロンとなっていた。（クリムトもその一人だった。）
Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer Ⅰ (also called The Lady in Gold or The Woman in Gold) a painting by Gustav Klimt (1907-08).The portrait was commissioned by the sitter’s husband, Ferdinand Bloch-Bauer, a Jewish banker and sugar producer. ( He was patron for many artists,and he was also klimt’s patron )The painting was stolen by the Nazis in 1941. and displayed at the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere.In 2006, following eight years of effort by the Bloch-Bauer heirs, the painting was returned to the family; it was sold the same year for $135 million, at the time a record price for a painting.
「黄金のアデーレ」を描いたクリムトは日本や東アジアの文化の影響を強く受け、日本文化への深い傾倒から甲冑や能面などの美術工芸品を含むプライベートコレクションを持っていた程である。浮世絵や琳派の影響がクリムトの諸作品の基調あるいは細部の随所に顕著に見て取る事が出来、『接吻』に代表される、いわゆる「黄金の時代」の作品には金箔が多用され、絢爛な雰囲気を醸し出している。 本作はナチスに奪われた肖像画「黄金のアデーレ」を取り戻すため、オーストリア政府を訴えた実在の女性マリア・アルトマンを主人公に、世界が固唾を呑んで見守り続けた裁判の行方と、この名画に秘められた真実の物語が描かれる。
Gustav Klimt was born in 1862 in Baumgarten, near Vienna in Austria-Hungary.Early in his artistic career, Klimt was the most influenced by Japanese art and its methods.Early in his artistic career, he was a successful painter of architectural decorations in a conventional manner. As he developed a more personal style, his work was the subject of controversy that culminated when the paintings he completed around 1900 for the ceiling of the Great Hall of the University of Vienna were criticized as pornographic. He subsequently accepted no more public commissions, but achieved a new success with the paintings of his “golden phase”, many of which include gold leaf. The film is based on the true story of Maria Altmann, together with her young lawyer, Randy Schoenberg, fought the government of Austria for almost a decade to reclaim Gustav Klimt’s iconic painting of her aunt, Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I, which was stolen from her relatives by the Nazis in Vienna just prior to World War II. Altmann took her legal battle all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States, which ruled on the case Republic of Austria v. Altmann.
「黄金のアデーレ」は以前ベルヴェデーレ宮殿美術館に所蔵されていたが、現在はニューヨークのノイエ・ガレリエに所蔵されています。
